    Hi, I am Sylva. 

    I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN), Culinary Nutrition Expert (CNE)

    and certified yoga teacher based in Ottawa, Canada. I am passionate about helping people with their health challenges through nutrition, yoga and meditation.

    My interest in nutrition originally grew through the goal of healing my auto-immune disorder without using pharmaceuticals. Over the years I learned about nutrition and discovered that cooking whole food from scratch does not have to be time consuming or complicated and that is what I want to share with you. Since I shifted to mindful plant based eating I have healed from my autoimmune disorder.

    Now I want to help others on their healing journey. I use my yoga and meditation training to teach  you about mindful  cooking and eating, because it does make a big difference. 

    I have great passion for cooking and plant-based eating. I enjoy encouraging clients to incorporate more plant-based meals into their diet. I love to show clients that plant-based meal can be easy to make, nutritious, economical and delicious at the same time.

    A holistic approach takes into consideration the body, mind and spirit. We can heal ourselves through natural whole food, positive attitude and mindfulness.

    My goal as a holistic nutritionist, culinary expert and yoga teacher is to be the best possible coach to meet your health needs and happiness.

    Holistic Nutrition

    Holistic nutrition focuses on a natural approach to a healthy diet and considers the individual as a whole, including all aspects of his/her lifestyle. This natural approach incorporates emotional, spiritual and physical health to create a state of well-being for optimum health.

    The main focus in holistic nutrition is an individual approach as each person is unique and we have different needs and likes. What might be a beneficial food for one person might be detrimental for another.

    As a Registered Holistic Nutritionists (RHN) I am professionally trained in natural nutrition and my primary function is to educate individuals about the benefits and health impacts of optimal nutrition. I am qualified to work with clients to identify their nutritional imbalances, and design personalized diet and lifestyle plans for wellness.

    Culinary Expertise

    As a Culinary Nutritional Expert I can demonstrate basic cooking techniques and share the health benefits of the natural foods. I am trained in practical, everyday, natural cooking,  as well as the therapeutic properties of foods we eat and how we prepare them.

    Nutritional Wellness Package                                                            $150.00 investment

    This package includes:

    • A personalized one-on-one initial consultation (60 minutes)
    • One follow-up consultation (60 minutes)
    • Development of a comprehensive nutritional plan based on individual needs
    • Recommendations for life-style modifications
    • Supplementation recommendations (if required)
    • A personalized 7 day meal plan with recipes and grocery lists provided
    • Email support to answer your questions and concerns

    What to expect:

    • Initial consultation:
      • Interactive discussion about your goals and concerns
      • Review of Life-style and Nutritional assessments forms and food log (all 3 forms to be filled out by you and submitted prior to your initial consultation)
      • Review of your current supplements and medications
      • Initial dietary and supplementation recommendations will be provided
    • Follow-up consultation:
      • You will be provided with comprehensive nutritional plan and life-style modification recommendations
      • A menu plan with recipes and grocery lists will be provided
      • Any recommendations for supplements will be presented
    • A meal plan will provide you with personalized information to help you achieve your health goals. It will focus on incorporating whole foods, while accommodating your likes and dislikes, current medical conditions and treatments. Your meal plan will be designed to used easily accessible healthy ingredients with basic cooking instructions.
    • Life Style and Nutrition assessment forms will need to be completed before your first session to help me assess your eating habits, imbalances and life-style habits and will allow me to create individual plans for you.
    • I will provide email support for 2 weeks after your follow-up consultation and commit to responding to your inquiries within 24 hours.

    Additional Nutritional and Wellness Services Provided *    $80.00 per hour 

    • Additional follow-up consultation to address your health and nutritional questions
    • Nutritional education (in grocery store tours, food label deciphering)
      • Kitchen pantry cleansing and assistance with stocking up your pantry with nutritious, whole foods
    • Private cooking demonstrations – basic food preparations techniques and nutritional considerations
    • Group cooking workshops
    • Meal planning – additional meal plans with recipes and grocery lists provided

    *Purchase of initial Nutritional Wellness Package required.

    Group cooking workshop

    Group cooking classes and workshops are offered periodically. These focus on specific areas of health. Example: anti-inflammatory, kidney health, liver health, etc. Individual cost is subject to number of participants.

    Some private or extended health care plans may cover one-on-one nutritionist services. Many “Flex Plans” or “Health Spending Accounts” allow members to allocate service fees towards complementary health services.

    Please check with your insurance company to see if your plan extends coverage to nutritionist counseling services. If you do not have third-party coverage, your receipts may be used as a tax deduction for medical expenses.

    1 cup baby spinach

    ½ cup of pineapple

    ½ banana

    2 tbsp hemp seeds

    ¼ cup chopped cucumber

    1 stalk of celery chopped

    1 tbsp flax seed oil

    Juice of 1 lemon

    1 tbsp of fresh ginger

    Directions:
    Combine all ingredients in high speed blender and blend until smooth.


    Spinach Lentil Coconut Soup

    1 tbsp of coconut oil

    1 cup of diced onion

    2 cloves of garlic minced

    1 tsp of grated ginger

    2 tsp of turmeric

    1 tsp ground cumin

    ½ tsp ground cinnamon

    ¼ tsp red pepper flakes

    2 large tomatoes diced

    1 can (15 oz) of full fat coconut milk

    2 cup of pure water

    1 cup of red lentils, rinsed and drained

    2 cup of organic spinach

    1 tsp sea salt

    2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

    Directions:

    • In large soup pot on medium heat add coconut oil and sauté onions for 4 minutes.
    • Add garlic, ginger and all spices (turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, red pepper flakes) and continue cooking for about 1 minute.
    • Add diced tomatoes, rinsed lentils, coconut milk and water.
    • Turn on high heat and bring it to boil. Once it boils, reduce the heat to medium and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes.
    • Turn off the heat and stir in salt and lemon juice.
    • Stir in spinach until it is wilted.

    Suggested serving: top with sunflower sprouts and pumpkin seeds

    1 cup ground almonds

    1/2 cup ground walnuts

    1/2 cup ground flax seeds

    1/2 cup unsweeted shreded coconut

    1/4 cup of hemp seeds

    pinch of salt

    1 tsp vanilla extract

    8 medjool dates, pitted, soaked

    Directions:

    • Blend all the ingredients except dates in the food processor for 30 seconds.
    • Now start adding dates one by one until the mixture will start to clump together.
    • Remove from food processor and roll into 1 inch balls.
    • Roll in coconut to coat.
